Music, music, dance, theater, art exhibits, sword and calligraphy demonstrations, and tea ceremony, flower arrangement and sumi-e painting workshops, are just some of the activities that will be held at the 2016 Japan Festival in Mexico City's National Arts Center (Cenart) on December 3 and 4.
Ricardo Calderón Figueroa, Cenart's General Director, said that the festival will be the largest ever in commemoration of the Mexico-Japan Association Foundation's 60th anniversary.
At a press conference, Japan's Ambassador to Mexico, Akira Yamada, thanked Mexico's Ministry of Culture for hosting the festival.
“Japan and Mexico are countries who are friends and the development of our bilateral relationship is exciting. More and more Japanese companies and entrepreneurs come to Mexico to invest and Mexicans are very interested in Japanese culture,” said the Japanese diplomat.
The festival is organized by the Japanese Embassy, the Mexico-Japanese Association, the Japan Foundation, and the Federal Ministry of Culture.
