Argentinean Ricardo La Volpe was named as the new head coach of the América soccer club for the remaining Apertura Tournament and the FIFA Club World Cup to be played in December.
La Volpe replaces Mexican Ignacio Ambriz, who was removed from his position on Sunday, after coaching 47 games.
"It's something that is very important for me in my career. This is a great opportunity." La Volpe said.
The appointment was made official once La Volpe met with Sports Vice President Ricardo Pelaez and signed the contract.
