The National Safety Commission reported that members of the Federal Police arrested Martín Villegas, identified as one of the leaders of the Beltrán Leyva cartel, who is accused of smuggling cocaine from Central and South America to the United States, and related to different violent acts.
According to an official statement, Villegas was heading to Mexico City to celebrate his birthday, so Federal Police conducted an operation in the Roma Norte neighborhood, arresting Martin Villegas without a single shot fired.
The 38-year-old suspect was brought before the District Judge on Federal Criminal Proceedings
